FUNDRASING IDEAS

Many of the projects described in the packet are fund-raising related. Fund-raising can be fun and creative, but it’s almost always hard work. Family members, students, neighbors, organization (churches, unions, country clubs, etc) members and complete strangers round out the list for potential fund-raising opportunities. Remember, you aren’t “begging for money” or even asking for it for yourself, you are giving people an opportunity to get involved in a worthy cause.

Types of gifts are . . .

one-time – someone gives you money of goods for a specific, limited project
on-going – someone commits to giving monthly (like in the case of child sponsorship) or yearly (like for an annual food drive)
regular – someone gives without any guarantee of future gifts, but the relationship is established and on-going

Giving comes in all shapes and sizes, but typical categories are . . .

Monetary gifts - Gifts of cash (check or credit card are considered cash)
Major monetary gifts –Gifts of cash of $1000 or more.
Goods in Kind – food for a food drive, a car to sell, medical supplies, etc. are all “goods in kind” meaning goods instead of money. These can be . . .

project specific (coats and blankets for the homeless)
specifically meant for sale (cupcakes for a bake sale)
generally intended for sale (a used pinto for you to sell). Be careful not to bite off more than you can chew for this one.
